Yaddo Garden Tours Filled with History & Beauty

This summer, learn about the history of the Trask family, the mansion and the Yaddo Gardens, as well as the aura, spirituality and creative energy that permeates Yaddo on a beautiful garden tour. The Yaddo Garden Association is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the gardens at Yaddo, an artists' retreat located on a 400-acre estate in Saratoga Springs, founded in 1900 by the financier Spencer Trask and his wife Katrina. The gardens consist of both a rose garden and a rock garden and are open to the public every day, 8 a.m. to dusk, free of charge. Docent-led garden tours are offered for a fee on Saturdays and Sundays, beginning Saturday, June 13 through Sunday, September 6. Drop-in tours are also held on Tuesdays during the thoroughbred racing season (July 28, August 4, 11, 18, 25, September 1, 2015).

The gardens feature a variety of plants which peak throughout the season. The roses begin to bloom mid-June and are at peak from about the third week of June through July and then peak again mid to late August. The rock garden is in bloom mid-June through mid-September. The remainder of the estate is private and may be visited only on special occasions.  Guided Tours meet at the main pond by the garden gate at 11 a.m. and cost $10 per person. Tours include historical information about Yaddo, the Trask family, the Mansion and the gardens.  In addition, private group docent-led garden tours may be arranged at a date and time convenient to your group by contacting Yaddo at 518-584-0746.
