Even though Travers Day is sold out at the Saratoga Race Course, fans can enjoy special events during the week leading up to the Mid-Summer Derby, featuring Triple Crown Winner American Pharoah. Plus, the Travers Parties are open around town to host Travers Day fun for fans that did not get a ticket to be trackside for the live racing action.

Sunday, August 23 - Thursday, August 27 - Travers 1864 Restaurant Week
A number of restaurants and eateries in the greater Capital Region will offer special pricing and menus in celebration of the Travers during the sixth annual Travers 1864 Restaurant Week. Diners will enjoy a prix-fixe meal at the cost of $18.64, the year of the inaugural running of the Travers. Participating restaurants can be found here.
Wednesday, August 26 – Stewart’s Shops Day
The New York Racing Association, Inc. will celebrate a longtime community partner during Stewart’s Shops Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The highlight of the day will be the annual Stewart’s Ice Cream Eating Contest, during which three age groups of kids, teens and adults will compete to finish a pint of ice cream the fastest. In addition to the Ice Cream Eating Contest, the day will feature a number of family-friendly activities at the Saratoga Pavilion, including a farm-themed bounce inflatable, photo opportunities with a milk truck, music, face painting and free Stewart’s Shops ice cream samples (while supplies last).
Friday, August 28 - Breakfast With American Pharoah
Come see Triple Crown winner American Pharoah and other Travers Stakes contenders train at 8:45 am. Join us for Breakfast at Saratoga on the Lower Porch and at the rail. Gates open at 7 am. Breakfast on the Porch is an exciting, long-standing tradition at Saratoga racecourse. Every racing day from 7 to 9:30 am, breakfast is served on The Porch of the Clubhouse while the Thoroughbreds prepare for future races. Price: $17.95 Adults/$9.95 Children 3 to 12 years. No Reservations, First-come, first-served. Please note that tram rides will NOT be available on Friday, August 28.
Friday, August 28 - Red Jacket Ceremony
Induction of prominent owners Ogden Mills "Dinny" Phipps of Phipps Stable and Marylou Whitney of Marylou Whitney Stables into the Saratoga Race Course Walk of Fame. Please be in your seats or along the apron at 12:15 pm for the start of the ceremony.
Thursday, August 27 - Travers Celebration
The New York Racing Association will honor the connections of 2014 Travers winner V.E. Day with an evening gala at Prime at Saratoga National, presented by Coors Light and Ketel One. Seats are still available. Please contact email@example.com for more information.

This weekly event throughout the meet is designed to highlight the tradition of style and glamour in thoroughbred racing at the Saratoga Pavilion each Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, the Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau, the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association and the City of Saratoga Springs are rolling out the red carpet for local residents and visitors who want to be a part of the 2015 Travers excitement.
