Hattie’s Restaurant and owners Jasper and Beth Alexander have announced that In Honor of their 50th Anniversary, Saratoga Performing Arts Center will be the beneficiary of the popular Annual Mardi Gras Soirée and fundraiser, to be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at the Historic Canfield Casino in Congress Park in Saratoga Springs, NY. This year’s event is themed “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in celebration of the New York City Ballet’s inaugural performance that opened SPAC in 1966.
“We are honored that Jasper and Beth Alexander have chosen SPAC as the beneficiary of this year’s Mardi Gras Soirée in support of our 50th Anniversary. Hattie’s is not only a culinary landmark, but, under the leadership of Jasper and Beth Alexander, a champion for the quality of life in Saratoga,” said Marcia White, SPAC’s President & Executive Director.
“The funds raised will support SPAC’s 50th Anniversary Season; a milestone event for the Capital Region,” White added. “The core of SPAC’s 2016 season will be a celebration of the visionaries who brought SPAC to life and the community that has sustained, enriched, and expanded SPAC for five decades. We look forward to a spectacular season including world premieres, SPAC debuts, and superstar artists – made possible through the generosity of Hattie’s Mardi Gras Soirée and the community members who support this event.”
In 2001, Hattie’s owners Jasper and Beth Alexander founded the annual Marti Gras Soirée to support local nonprofits. Since then, the event has raised over $600,000 for various charities including Shelters of Saratoga, Saratoga YMCA, Saratoga Hospital, Bridges of Saratoga, Saratoga Sponsor a Scholar, Saratoga Community Center, SPAC, and Jake’s Help from Heaven.
“Beth and I are very proud of our commitment to our community and are grateful that this event has become so popular because it has allowed us to provide significant help to organizations that are important to us,” said Chef/Owner Jasper Alexander.
Michael Panza and his team from Fine Affairs will transform the Canfield Casino into “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” harkening back and paying tribute to New York City Ballet’s Opening Night performance on July 8, 1966. The event will also offer a complimentary cocktail from 6:00pm-7:00pm, Mardi Gras-inspired cuisine by Chef Jasper Alexander, cash bar, lottery raffle and a great silent auction (valet parking available).
