The Budweiser Clydesdales Join SPAC’s 50th Anniversary Celebration
The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales, the symbol of quality and tradition for Anheuser-Busch since 1933, will join the Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s (SPAC) 50th Anniversary Season with an exciting viewing opportunity on Friday, August 19 at 6:00 p.m. in conjunction with SPAC’s Family Night series.
The eight-horse hitch of the “Gentle Giants,” as they are often referred to, will be harnessed and hitched to the famous red beer wagon at the SPAC lawn as pre-performance entertainment before a spectacular concert by The Philadelphia Orchestra, Joshua Bell & Chris Botti, featuring a double-billing of two GRAMMY® Award winning musicians, virtuoso classical violinist Joshua Bell and legendary jazz trumpeter Chris Botti. The Clydesdales’ special pre-performance appearances at SPAC are made possible through the generous support of Saratoga Eagle.
The Clydesdales will be stabled at the Warming Hut area of the Saratoga Spa State Park. The stable viewing is free and open to the public. Come see the Clydesdales in their stables daily.

About The Clydesdales:
The Clydesdales’ appearance at SPAC is one of hundreds made annually by the traveling hitches. Horses chosen for the Budweiser Clydesdale hitch must be at least three years of age, stand approximately 18 hands – or six feet – at the shoulder, weigh an average of 2,000 pounds, must be bay in color, have four white legs, and a blaze of white on the face and black mane and tail. A gentle temperament is very important as hitch horses meet millions of people each year. A single Clydesdale hitch horse will consume as much as 20-25 quarts of feed, 40-50 pounds of hay and 30 gallons of water per day. Each hitch travels with a Dalmatian. In the early days of brewing, Dalmatians were bred and trained to protect the horses and guard the wagon when the driver went inside to make deliveries.
About Joshua Bell & Chris Botti:
Two of the world’s most sought-after musicians, virtuoso classical violinist Joshua Bell and legendary jazz trumpeter Chris Botti, will perform at SPAC as part of their first-ever joint tour. This highly-anticipated concert will be led by one of Saratoga’s favorite conductors, Steven Reineke. Joshua Bell & Chris Botti is part of SPAC’s Friday night Family Night series presented by CDPHP, including free Stewart’s ice cream, balloon animals, photos booths, and an instrument petting zoo.
