The Waterford Tugboat Roundup – where maritime history comes alive.
At least 25 tugs will be arriving in the "Waterford Harbor" this weekend for the 17th Annual Tugboat Roundup. Nearly all of them will be working or retired boats. We'll have the mini-tugs doing their thing along the waterfront, music playing all weekend, vendors with arts, crafts, souvenirs and food. Don't forget those incredible fireworks on Saturday night.
All events are free, although boat rides do have a nominal charge. Boat tickets are available at their docks. A great, fun-filled family weekend with great people, a terrific collection of vendors, artists, displays, exhibits and really cool tugboats.
Parking: Keep in mind the best parking is at the Highway lot or other satellite lots. Look for directions at the village line. Shuttles will be available to the waterfront and parking is very limited in the waterfront area.
Boating visitors: there will be public docking just above lock 3 in the Waterford flight for visitors or transients (the Waterfront docks are otherwise closed for the event, open to registrants only). But - remember, too - Fall hours are in effect for the canal system. Lockings are only available from 8am to 5pm, 7 days a week now through canal closing in November.
