Veterans Day Commemoration at Saratoga National Historical Park
On Saturday, November 12, 2016, Saratoga National Historical Park, in partnership with the Sons of the American Revolution, will have a special 2-part Veterans Day commemoration. The park is located between Rt. 4 and Rt. 32 just north of the Village of Stillwater.
First, there will be a day-long encampment, 9 AM – 4 PM, with members of the 2nd Continental Artillery Regiment encamped behind the park visitor center. The group will have displays on artillery from the American Revolution and will also offer cannon firing demonstrations periodically throughout the day.
Then at 1 PM, there will be a formal program recognizing veterans past and present. Included in this will be a reading of units that fought in the Battles of Saratoga, a salute to all the branches of the US Military, a musket salute, and a wreath laying to honor all who have served our country.
Blue Star and Gold Star Families in the area are welcomed to this program and encouraged to participate in this commemoration, as there will be a recognition of their contributions and sacrifice.
