Who is Mike Relyea?

Michael Relyea has already proven himself as a leader and visionary, transforming the industries in which he has worked. In his current position as the president of the Luther Forest Technology Campus Economic Development Corp, Mr. Relyea oversees the day-to-day operations and the overall development of the 1,414-acre Luther Forest Technology Campus. Mr. Relyea works daily to coordinate the area’s $250-million+ investment through the building of approximately seven miles of roads, nine miles of electric transmission lines, campus utilities and the overall development of the site. 

In his previous experience, Mr. Relyea demonstrated that he understands how to lift both organizations and team members to their top level of success. He excels at bringing communities together. He began his career working for the Committee for Economic Improvement as the Director for the Neighborhood Based Alliance. In this role, he focused on upgrading the delivery of human services and developing community plans to distribute those services. Mr. Relyea was then appointed as a senior staff member of the New York State Senate and served as a state and local government liaison and identified state funding and policy initiatives that would benefit municipalities. Continuing his work in government, he worked in the office of Governor George Pataki.

Prior to joining LFTCEDC, Mr. Relyea served as the Executive Director of the New York State Office of Science, Technology & Academic Research (NYSTAR). In that position, he was responsible for more than $250 million in grants to universities, hospitals and other non-profits helping to grow NY's technology-based economy. He assisted businesses in creating jobs and fostering economic growth and advances in the fields of science, technology and innovation. He also increased productivity in program development by 80 percent and empowered his employees with the motivation to be more involved and excited for better teamwork and satisfaction.
