Starting a business is a complicated undertaking and the most critical aspect of the venture is doing the proper research. Without the proper homework the business is doomed for failure and even worse, you may be subject to substantial financial penalties.
Over the last three decades a suggested step by step procedure has been created by the Chamber for startup and expanding businesses. The first step is a visit to the Chamber to pick up a starting a business kit. The kit is free and provides general information for startups. The kit is not mailed. The Chamber is located at 28 Clinton Street in Saratoga Springs.
After performing the necessary research and developing a rough business plan, the next step is one-on-one counseling with a member of SCORE, America’s Advisors To Small Business. Experienced private sector executives provide guidance through this program. Local meetings are scheduled by calling the Chamber at 584-3255.
After meeting with SCORE, chamber member attornies and accountants on a rotating basis, have agreed to provide up to a free half hour of counseling to member firms. Only one session with an attorney and one session to an accountant is allowed. Call Bridget at 584-3255 to schedule an appointment.
Members may secure answers up to four times a year on any personnel issue they may be facing. Contact Bridget DeVaney at 584-3255.

The Chamber takes positions throughout the year on issues of importance to your business. Those positions are communicated to you through the newsletter, are published in local newspapers and passed on to your legislators. If you have issues you would like the Board of Directors to address, please contact a member of the staff.
