Saratoga, NY Kicks Off Its Holiday Season with Special Events and Getaway Packages
First Night Saratoga to Feature a Live Race with Troops in Afghanistan
Saratoga Springs, NY (December 2, 2008 - Visitors will find great family events in Saratoga County, New York to highlight this December and the holiday season. With a number of winter getaway packages available, visitors to Saratoga will be able to sample the best the region has to offer this winter.
Visitors can join in the celebration at the largest New Year’s Eve event north of Times Square in New York State. The 13th Annual First Night Saratoga is an alcohol-free, family-oriented winter extravaganza on December 31st. The night includes musicians, performers, artist, fireworks and more, in the streets and at different venues throughout Saratoga Springs. Plus, for the first time ever, the annual 5K run will feature a special tribute to our troops serving in Afghanistan with a live race occurring in Afghanistan at the same time as the race in Saratoga Springs. With over 250 uniquely decorated trees, wreaths and centerpieces, Saratoga’s 13th Annual Festival of Trees will showcase custom holiday décor, with all goods for purchase. This Christmas spectacular will take place December 3 – 7, 2008 in the Saratoga Springs City Center. Saratoga’s streets will be filled with musicians, carolers, entertainers, live reindeer and more at over 40 different locations downtown. An event unparalleled and unique to Saratoga, the 22nd Annual Victorian Streetwalk will take place Thursday, December 4th, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Visitors can also join Santa and Mrs. Claus December 3rd at 7:00 p.m. for the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
