About The Saratoga Performing Arts Center
Located inside beautiful Saratoga Spa State Park, The Saratoga Performing Arts Center (known locally as SPAC) is a music and peforming arts venue that features classical programming, festivals and major concerts. The New York City Ballet is in residency each summer as is The Philadelphia Orchestra. Major festivals include the Jazz Festival and the Saratoga Wine and Food Festival. Major concerts featuring popular rock, country and pop stars highlight a summer season full of music and performances.

Extended Season at SPAC
Arturo O’Farrill & The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra - winners of Sunday night’s Grammy Award for ‘Best Latin Jazz Album’ - are among the featured artists of the 2009 Extended Season. Also performing will be the world-renowned Boys & Girls Choir of Harlem Alumni Ensemble and critically-acclaimed jazz vocalist Rachael Price. Performances are scheduled for May 23, 29 and 30 at SPAC’s Little Theatre at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be ordered via online order form at www.spac.org.
The New York City Ballet - July 7-18, 2009
The 2009 season of The New York City Ballet will feature 20 different ballets, including three performances of full-length story ballet Coppélia, a work partially commissioned by SPAC that had its world premiere on SPAC’s stage in 1974. Other highlights include George Balanchine’s Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, the centerpiece of the July 11 Ballet Gala, and the one-act Swan Lake. The season will also feature the Saratoga premieres of new works by Benjamin Millepied and Melissa Barak. New York City Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins’ 1994 work Papillons will also have its first ever performance at SPAC. For more informaiton visit www.spac.org.
The Philadelphia Orchestra - August 5-22, 2009
Led by Charles Dutoit, Principal Conductor and Artistic Director, program highlights include an Opening Night appearance by ALEC BALDWIN who will narrate Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, performances by world-renown soloists including YO-YO MA and JOSHUA BELL, and three pops evenings with guest conductors MARVIN HAMLISCH, ERICH KUNZEL and JEFF TYZIK. Saratoga Chamber Music Festival - August 4 - 23, 2009
A Chamber music concert featuring cellist Yo-Yo Ma and pianist Emanuel Ax is among the highlights of the 2009 Saratoga Chamber Music Festival, August 4 – 23, announced today by Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
