11th Annual Chowderfest To Be Held In Saratoga Springs

Saratoga Springs, NY – Visitors can enjoy some winter fun and some great food at the 11th Annual Chowderfest held in Saratoga Springs, NY on Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For the first time, this event is going green, with participating restaurants using biodegradable serving dishes and utensils, along with voting ballots printed on recycled paper. This event also features a Dog Chow Down for hungry canines. Special getaway packages are also available for the event, which is coordinated by the Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau.
Visitors can pick up a ballot and taste chowders from over 35 participating restaurants and vote for their favorite. Each sample of chowder is $1, and is paid directly to the establishment. Valid ballots need 5 stickers from participating businesses and can be turned in to the Saratoga Springs Visitor Center or the Saratoga Arts Center. For an additional $7, Chowderfest attendees can take home an official long-sleeve Chowderfest T-shirt with a completed ballot. The popular Dog Chow Down will take place at 1:00 pm. One lucky pooch will get the chance to try all the Doggie Chowders served by dog contestants and pick his favorite. Visitors can also bring their four-legged family member and treat them to special chowders.
Chowderfest is an event that takes place during the 12th Annual Winterfest weekend, January 30 - February 1, 2009. Featured events include: a Wine Tasting at the Holiday Inn – Saratoga Springs on Friday, January 30th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Ice sculpting, music, horse drawn sleigh rides, ice skating on Saturday at Prestwick Chase from 11-4, The 12th Annual Bartenders Ball, which features live entertainment, cocktails and food stations, and will take place at the Saratoga Springs City Center on Saturday, January 31st from 6:30 p.m. to midnight, and an Empire State Games Qualifier 5K snowshoe race sponsored by Saratoga Stryders held at Saratoga Spa State Park on Sunday, February 1, with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m., and.
