Winter Events and Festivals In Saratoga

Here are a number of special Saratoga events and festivals to attend or you can make up your own activities and adventures this winter.  Check out some of our fun Winter Family Activities and Winter Getaways, too. 

It’s Chowder Time!
People come from near and far to experience Saratoga’s Chowderfest. A Winterfest event, the 12th Annual Chowderfest will be held February 4th, 2012 at local Saratoga restaurants and establishments from 11am to 4pm. It is a great way to get the whole family out on a cold winter day. With dozens of places to pick from, taste test different chowders or soups for $1 each, vote for your favorite, turn in your ballot plus $7 and get a souvenir longsleeve t-shirt. It is great fun for everyone. Celebrate Winter—Family Style
Saratoga has the perfect weekend getaway for the whole family. Winterfest 2012 is packed full of fun with great indoor and outdoor activities.  Everyone can enjoy the hot chowder, snowman contest, cross country ski and snowshoe, children activities and more. All weekend long, February 3 through 5, 2012, at various locations across Saratoga. Stay in Saratoga with our great Winterfest Stay Packages.  For specific event details, visit www.discoversaratoga.org/chowderfest or call 518-584-1531.
 
Nature’s Park
Saratoga County is home to state parks for winter activities galore. Snowshoeing and cross country skiing opportunities are plentiful. Don’t worry if you don’t have the gear. You can rent equipment at some of the parks or at our local ski shop. The Saratoga Spa State Park is great for both, with trails all through the park. Plus, there is a rustic warming hut to start your adventure or relax and warm up after you’re done. To learn more visit www.saratogaspastatepark.orgMoreau Lake State Park has great trails through the woods for shoes or skis. If you don’t want to do the trails, you can stay on the flat and go around on the small lake.  To learn more visit nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/150/details.aspx. You can also visit the Snowshoe Capital of the World in Corinth and head out on the National Snowshoe Trails or you can check out one of the many nature preserves in the area. Of course, if you’re into snowmobiling, ice fishing or just building a snowman, there’s plenty of that too.  
 
Are those Flurries?
Dancers and music lovers of all ages don’t want to miss this. An entire weekend of dancing, performances, workshops, concerts, crafts and so much more, make up The Flurry in Saratoga. Over 300 performers in various venues, with over 250 events in three days. From Contra to Swing, Salsa to Clogging, Old-time American to Latin music this festival has it all. Raise Your Pint
Saratoga has an event like no other.  Calling all beer lovers and beer connoisseurs to come and experience a three-day festival of beer, beer and more beer.  This February 23-25, 2012, Saratoga will host dozens of brews and breweries from across the country and around the globe over 25 plus events at Saratoga Beer Week 2012.  Enjoy seminars, taste testing, pub crawl, food, karaoke and so much more.  Saratoga in February is a beer lover’s utopia you won’t want to miss.  For more information and complete schedule of events, go to www.saratogabeerweek.com  or call 518-339-6333.

Victorian Streetwalk
Re-live Saratoga's gilded age, in this fun event that takes place in downtown Saratoga Springs on Thursday, December 1, 2011. Silver will be everywhere, so come celebrate 25 years during this silver anniversary event.  Enjoy music, magic, choral performances, Victorian period costumes, live reindeer and even a visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.  This event is free and open to the public.  Come to town the night before, November 30th, for the Annual Tree Lighting with cookies and hot chocolate.  Be sure to check out our Victorian Streetwalk Events Package and make it a fun getaway.  For more information on the event, visit www.saratogadowntown.com.   
 
Saratoga Culinary At Its Best

It’s a Frosty Affair

The possibilities are endless. The fun doesn’t stop in Saratoga when the snow flies, it just gets going. With so much to do, your biggest decision will be what to do first. Of course, there is always shopping and great restaurants to satisfy your appetite and refuel. Plus, go bowling or see the latest movie, catch a theater performance or music concert, check out a number of art exhibits or visit dozens of museums, some of which are National Museums. There is something for everyone in Saratoga during the winter months
