Over 10,000 Acres of Outdoor Adventure Await Visitors to Saratoga County, NY
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (January 26, 2009) - Nestled in the Foothills of the Adirondacks, Saratoga County, New York offers winter recreational opportunities to beat the winter blues at State and National parks, area lakes and mountains.     
Saratoga Spa State Park, located in Saratoga Springs, has miles of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails as well as two outdoor ice rinks. The groomed trails are perfect for the novelist or experienced skier, with more challenging trails in the wooded areas.   Find more information at http://nysparks.state.ny.us and www.saratogaspastatepark.org or call 518-584-2535.
The Saratoga National Historical Park, located in Stillwater, has over 4 miles of trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Visitors will enjoy the winter landscape and abundant wildlife of the park, where the "Turning Point" of the American Revolution occurred.  The Visitor Center, with gift shop and historical exhibits, is open to the public year-round. For more information go to www.nps.gov/sara or call 518-664-9821 ext 224.
Moreau Lake State Park, a designated Audubon Important Bird Area and a significant wintering site for the Bald Eagle, is also located in Saratoga County. This park has wooded and challenging terrain, wildlife and Moreau Lake and is suitable for snowshoeing and cross country skiing treks. For details and events, go to http://nysparks.state.ny.us or call 518-793-0511.
Hadley Mountain is the tallest peak in Saratoga County and features a challenging ascent. Visitors will be rewarded with an historic and restored fire tower at the summit and open views of the Southern Adirondacks, the Green Mountains of Vermont and the Catskills.    For more information, go online to www.saratoga.org
Saratoga Lake and Lake Lonely activities include ice fishing, ice skating, cross country skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling. All activities are free, open to the public and at visitors’ own risk, as conditions vary.
